Cedar Mountain Winery was established in the Livermore Valley in 1990. Earl Linda Ault bought their property at 7000 Tesla Road in 1988, at the time the entire vineyard was chenin blanc vines. In 1989 they grafted the chenin blanc vineyard to a mixture of chardonnay and cabernet Sauvignon. The first CMW release was the 1990 estate chardonnay. The same year they made a small lot of cabernetsauvignon, which was released in 1993. Recently in 2005 they grafted some of the chardonnay to sauvignon blanc and released their first estate sauvignon blanc in early 2007. Cedar Mountain is rapidly gaining national attention for their gold medal cabernet sauvignons and ports. These wines are available in fine restaurants, wine shops, directly from the winery tasting room and online or by mail order. The Aults believe that quality wines begin with the grapes in the vineyard. The winery specializes primarily in Livermore grown and produced wine. They produce estate chardonnay, estate cabernet sauvignon, estate sauvignon blanc, pinot grigio, merlot, vabernet franc, duet (a cabernet/merlot blend), as well as nationally recognized port wines from their very own vineyard and from the Sierra foothills. Cedar Mountain produces roughly 10,000 cases annually.

Concannon Vineyard has a proud history of “Firsts.” Always an industry leader, Concannon is the first successful winery to be founded by an Irish immigrant. When James Concannon planted white Bordeaux cuttings in the late 1800s, we became one of the first wineries to make Bordeaux-style wines in California. In 1950, we hired the first professional, female winemaker, Katherine Vajda. In 1961, we introduced America’s first Petite Sirah, sparking a love affair with the variety. Our inaugural vintage was so well-received that we have produced it ever since, and it has become our highly regarded flagship wine. Shortly thereafter, Concannon’s role in the California Cabernet Sauvignon industry became truly historic! From the 1970s onward, the famous “Concannon Clones 7, 8 & 11” provided the backbone of the huge expansion in Cabernet plantings in California’s premium wine regions as well as in many of Napa’s most prestigious vineyards. California Cabernet, the wine that primarily placed California on the world wine map, was built upon our Concannon Clone vines.

In 2001, we purchased a 3 acre site on South Livermore Avenue to have country space to garden and leave the neighborhood confines behind. Two acres of weeds became an immediate problem, that a friend suggested we solve by planting grapevines. So out went the horse corrals in came 2 acres of our favorite varietal, Petite Sirah with a vague plan of becoming a small lot provider. Thus Eagle Ridge Vineyard was born, named after the Eagles that had returned to the Livermore Valley in 1996.
Michael and Vickie Eckert opened the Tasting room December 2001, as one of Livermore Valley’s newest wineries. Michael takes his craft from vineyard to bottle by producing an eclectic array of hand-crafted wines from Italian, Portuguese, and French varietals – many that you don’t customarily find in a tasting room.

Their tasting list often lists the unusual varieties such as Sangiovese, Charbono, Granache, Pinotage, Tempranillo, Viognier, and Rose’ of Sangiovese and Syrah.
