The Bankhead Theater will finally reopen in May screening films for a limited audience size. Following state guidelines, only 100 tickets distributed across the 507-seat theater will be sold for each event.
One of Broadway’s most classic and beloved tales, 42nd Street tells the story of Peggy Sawyer, a talented young performer with stars in her eyes and big dreams of a show business career. The story of her rise from chorus girl to leading lady is full of crowd-pleasing tap dances and such popular musical theatre standards as the title song, “42nd Street,” as well as “Lullaby of Broadway”, “We’re in the Money,” and other show-stopping ensemble production numbers. Filmed in 2018 at London’s Theatre Royal and directed by the original author of the show Mark Bramble, this was the largest-ever production of the musical.
