One of this generation’s most compelling singer/songwriters, Marc Cohn is a natural storyteller with the precision of a brilliant tunesmith and the passion of a great soul man, able to balance the exuberant with the poignant and distill universal truths from real life tales. Since the soulful ballad off his debut album “Walking in Memphis” won a Grammy Award in 1991, he has released a half-dozen recordings, including his most recent “Careful What You Dream: Lost Songs and Rarities” in 2016. He will be joined by special guests, legendary gospel group the Blind Boys of Alabama, whose pioneering modern style transcends race and genre and has inspired fans for more than seven decades. Their latest album “Almost Home,” featuring the semi-autobiographical track “Let My Mother Live,” was released last summer. Together for an intimate evening at the Bankhead Theater, Marc Cohn and the Blind Boys of Alabama.
