Moving Together

February 3 - February 4

We invite the community to join us for African and African Diaspora master dance and drumming workshops and an Ensemble performance. This program is open to everyone regardless of skill level.

With Support from the California Arts Council and in partnership with the City of Dublin, Cheza Nami is excited to produce “Moving Together”, a community engagement program that brings master African & Diaspora Artists together for dance and drumming workshops . The workshops will be followed by a showcase performance by the Cheza Nami Ensemble and the Arenas Dance company in the spring installation of our “Essence Show”.

The Essence Show is a collaborative performance that explores the rich musical legacy and cultures across the African Diaspora including Cuba, Brazil, Kenya, Congo and several West African Cultures, Guinea, Burkina Faso, Mali, Senegal to name a few. This collage stitches together our individual stories to bring power to our collective voice, and is the culminating effort of our artistic convenings to bridge our communities together through song and dance. We welcome everyone.
Program is funded in part by a grant from the California Arts Council
