Tender Mercies is a perennial, alt-country, Americana supergroup with roots to the Bay Area’s finest songwriters and musicians. In 1983, Patrick Winningham, a songwriter and manager of the legendary Hotel Utah music venue, met Dan Vickrey, guitarist of the Counting Crows. These two soon brought in Kurt Stevenson on bass, and Jim Bogios, also of the Counting Crows, on drums to form Tender Mercies.
