Ride from Medleno Coffee Shop & Roastery to Blackhawk Grille and the Blackhawk Museum
(5.2 miles, about 32 minutes)
1. Ride south on the Iron Horse Regional Trail toward Sycamore Valley Road.
2. Turn right onto Sycamore Valley Road.
3. Follow the curve to the right to continue on Camino Tassajara.
4. Turn left onto Blackhawk Plaza Circle to enter Blackhawk Plaza and arrive at the Blackhawk Grille and the Blackhawk Museum.
The Blackhawk Museum is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institutions. The museum is best known for its collection of classic, vintage and rare automobiles in its Automotive Gallery. The museum’s “Spirit of the Old West” exhibition tells the story of challenges, successes, and failures in the lives of Native Americans and American Settlers in the Old West. Sprinkled with natural history and wildlife, the exhibit preserves a comprehensive and important history of the region. The museum’s latest exhibit, “Into China,” allows you to experience some of the finest handcrafted masterpieces that mirror the country’s enormous scale.
After the museum, make your way across the plaza to the Blackhawk Grille for lunch. Blackhawk Grille’s specialty is “modern comfort food.” You can dine indoors, or outdoors next to the charming pond when the weather is nice – which it usually is! Fresh, creative cuisine is on the menu for lunch, and also brunch if you’re riding by on Saturday or Sunday.
Ride from Blackhawk Plaza to O’Neill Park via the Iron Horse Regional Trail
(7.2 miles, about 43 minutes)
1. Exit the Blackhawk Plaza and turn right onto Camino Tassajara.
2. Turn left onto Crow Canyon Road.
3. Just past the intersection at Alcosta Blvd., turn right onto the Iron Horse Regional Trail and ride north.
4. At the intersection with San Ramon Valley Blvd., turn right.
5. Turn right onto Hartz Way.
6. Turn left onto Front Street.
7. Arrive at O’Neill Park on the left.
Stop for a break in O’Neill Park where you can kick back on a park bench and enjoy the view of picturesque, tree-lined Front Street. Park placards and a sculpture provide a glimpse into the park’s namesake, Nobel Prize-winning playwright Eugene O’Neill, who wrote his final and most memorable plays right here in Danville. For a more immersive experience, you can head to the Eugene O’Neill National Historic Site in Danville where you can visit the “Tao House,” with its courtyard, historic pathways, and orchards. You can take a free shuttle up to the historic site from the Museum of the San Ramon Valley and take a tour with a reservation, which can be made by calling (925)-838-0249.
Ride from O’Neill Park to Danville Chocolates and the Danville Oak Tree

1. From O’Neill Park, exit and turn left onto Front Street heading north.
2. Danville Chocolates is located on the left at the intersection of Front Street and Prospect Avenue.
3. The Danville Oak Tree is one block further north on Front Street at the intersection with Diablo Road.
Candied apples, gourmet chocolates, truffles and freshly chocolate-dipped fruits will entice you to indulge your sweet tooth. It’s a good thing you’ll bike about today – in fact, go ahead and have two!
In the heart of Danville stands a majestic oak tree. The celebrated centerpiece of the community is over 350 years old! A visit to the Danville Oak Tree is a must at any time of the year, but it’s especially enchanting during the holidays when it’s decorated leaves-to-roots with twinkling lights.
Ride from Danville Oak Tree to Bloogrape Organic Sworls

1. Continue riding north on Front Street, cross Diablo Road, and follow the road as it curves to the left.
2. Turn left onto Hartz Avenue, Bloogrape Organic Sworls will be two blocks down on the left.
As one of the stops on the Tri-Valley Ice Cream Trail, Bloogrape Organic Sworls sits on the crossroads between satiating your sweet tooth and listening to your inner health nut. Each frosty creation is organic and made just for you. Enjoy flavors of dairy and vegan ice cream topped with treats from fruit, chocolate, and nuts to rose petals, bee pollen, and coconut nectar – yum!
Ride from Bloogrape Organic Sworls to the Museum of the San Ramon Valley

1. Turn left onto Hartz Avenue, heading south.
2. Turn right onto Prospect Avenue.
3. After crossing Railroad Avenue the Museum of the San Ramon Valley will be on the left.
The Museum of the San Ramon Valley is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the region’s rich history and heritage. The collections and exhibits reflect our human experiences, institutions, and cultures that were shaped by the valley’s landscape, environment and early settlers. In addition to a permanent exhibit on Valley history, the Museum sponsors revolving exhibits and several guided tours including the Alamo Cemetery and Old Town Danville.
Ride from Museum of the San Ramon Valley to Danville Harvest

1. From the museum, head east on Prospect Avenue toward Railroad Avenue.
2. Turn right onto Railroad Avenue.
3. Turn left onto Church Street, and cross Hartz Avenue to arrive at Danville Harvest.
Enjoy dinner at Danville Harvest, a local farm-to-table restaurant with a menu full of dishes that are fresh, organic and locally sourced. Taste the freshest in-season ingredients from their creative seasonal menu, and don’t forget the hushpuppies!
After dinner, park your bike and finish your day with a walk through Downtown Danville to one of these local breweries.
The Growler is a local favorite and a stop on the Tri-Valley Beer Trail. This casual “gastropub” has a wide assortment of craft beers and a menu of hearty pub fare. Amongst an assortment of salads and sandwiches, the Growler also offers unique plates like their Bulgogi Kimchi Burger or their Merguez Lamb Sliders!
Danville Brewing Co. is known for it’s uniquely named brews and gourmet spin on bar food (try the Notch Above Nachos!). This cozy nook is not only a stop along the Tri-Valley Beer Trail, but it’s well-known in the craft beer community. Danville Brewing Co. continues to collect prestigious awards and receive worldwide recognition for their delicious brews. It’s just the right blend of casual and chic to finish your day…and start your evening!
Norm’s Place is Danville’s neighborhood bar and grill, and another stop on the Tri-Valley Beer Trail. Stop in for a casual meal after your day of adventure – it’s a popular spot for cyclists! Don’t miss their signature burgers. If you’re more into greens than grills, their salads are fantastic!
