Posada, the hot Southwestern fusion spot in the Peppertree Plaza, is a relative newcomer to the Livermore food scene, but owner Eduardo Posada’s been bringing the heat since 2005 through his catering business of the same name. His fresh approach to Hispanic fare incorporates much of what the Livermore Valley wine country does best, like the braised short ribs with mole sauce that includes crushed blackberries and local Cabernet Sauvignon. For a drink to quell some of that heat, try a sangrita—that’s a margarita topped with sangria. Posada: 988 Murrieta Blvd., Livermore
Favorite Date-Night Spot:
Terra Mia Italian Restaurant, Livermore
When I want to take my wife to a special place, I go to Terra Mia. It has a nice ambience—you feel this warmth as soon as you walk in—and it’s a good place to satisfy my Italian cravings. I usually order the specials, anything with seafood, or the spaghetti and meatballs. 4040 East Ave.
Favorite Wine and Cheese:
Artistic Table, Livermore
I like the bar at Artistic Table. I go there for a nice glass of wine—they’re always featuring new ones—and they have some really nice craft beer choices. And the cheese boards are to die for: They have a variety you won’t find anywhere else. 56 S. Livermore Ave.
Favorite After-Work Drink:
The Last Word, Livermore
For a cocktail, I like The Last Word. It’s open late, so I can go there after we close the restaurant. It’s a cool venue. They have live music on weekends, and the food is very good. I’ve had the red chili prawns, and you can’t go wrong with the hamburger, which is huge. The drinks are definitely a must. I especially love their old-fashioned—they do it right. 2470 First St.
