If you ask the locals when historic Downtown Pleasanton really comes alive they will tell you, “The summer!” When the weather turns warm, things start to heat up on Main Street—especially on the first Wednesdays and Fridays of the summer months.
Beginning the first Friday of June, Lions Wayside and Delucchi Parks turn into a sea of blankets. More than 3,000 people claim their patch of the park in the early hours of the day in preparation for the popular Friday evening Concert In The Park. More than dozen years running, Concerts In The Park is a summertime tradition. Every Friday in June, July and August from 7-8:30pm music fills downtown. From rock classics to blue grass, big band jazz to oldies hits; the eclectic line up of 13 concerts provides entertainment for every age.
Music lovers will also enjoy the 1st Wednesday Street Party which takes place every first Wednesday of the months of May, June, July, August and September from 6-9pm. Bands and solo musicians fill Main Street with your favorite tunes. In addition to stopping into the shops and restaurants, visitors can explore nearly 200 businesses and community organizations with booths in the middle of Main Street. Children can enjoy face painting, balloon animals, pony visits and more! Adults can sip Alameda County Wine Competition award winning vintages in the Wine Garden featuring guest brewery Handles Gastropub. A Farmers’ Market, Food Truck Mafia, ArtBlock and more add up to a lively event with options to please foodies, families and everyone in between.
