Tri-Valley Holiday Events Guide

There’s no dashing through the snow in the Tri-Valley, but there is plenty of holiday cheer to go around. Pick between live holiday performances, ugly sweater cocktail strolls, wine-fueled tours of the Tri-Valley’s bright lights, and more. 

LumiNight Festival

November, 29th - February 2nd | Alameda county fairgrounds

Bring your family to the LumiNight Festival for a spectacular evening of dazzling lights, colors, shapes, and themes. 
The festival features 8 acres of light displays crafted into a walking safari for you and your family. Light attractions include: Noah’s Ark, animals from the Chinese Zodiac, a Land of Dinosaurs, The Great Barrier Reef and more! There will also be plenty of carnival games and food vendors suitable for children of all ages. 

Santa's Arrival: Believe in the Magic

SAT - SUN, DEC. 1st - 22nd @ 12pm - 3pm | danville Livery

Get ready for Santa’s Arrival with this free event that includes street entertainment, horse-drawn carriage rides, live reindeer, a snowfield, crafts and so much more! RSVP on the Livery’s Facebook page for your children to be a VIK (very important kid). Be sure to bring your camera to capture your visit with Santa. Santa will be back every Saturday and Sunday in December until Christmas. For a chance to give back this holiday season, bring canned food to donate to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano. Danville Livery is proud to host a safe, family fun event for the community. 

Holiday Sights and Sounds Parade

Livermore Downtown Inc. will host the 24th annual Holiday Sights & Sounds Parade. Grab an early dinner,
and then huddle around the streets of downtown Livermore for holiday season songs and spectacles. The parade follows First Street from M Street to McLeod Street. At the end of the day of festivities, watch the lighting of the
Christmas Tree at the corner of First Street & Livermore Ave. 

Holidays in the Vineyards


Get started on your holiday shopping all while sipping wine. Visit over 20 Livermore Valley wineries the first weekend of December for special tastings, arts & crafts vendors, live holiday music, and great deals on unique gifts. Admission to this event is free, however tasting fees may vary by winery.

Lights of Livermore Wine Trolley Tour

december 7th, 8th, 12th -23rd | 5:30PM - 7:45PM & 7PM - 9:15PM

This 2-in-1 tour starts with a private tasting reception at Concannon Vineyard which includes perfectly paired light bites to prep you for the following festivities. Afterwards, embark on the Livermore Wine Trolley for a magical ride to Livermore’s most dazzling holiday displays. Bottles of wine are available for purchase to enjoy on your trolley ride through the festively decorated streets of Livermore.

Spirit & Sweater Stroll


It’s that time of the year again; bust out your ugliest holiday sweaters and get ready for Downtown Pleasanton’s Spirit & Sweater Stroll. Event participants will make their way through Main Street, stopping at various shops at restaurants to enjoy spirits and cocktails catered by local distilleries. Several downtown stores will feature special discounts so guests can get some of their holiday shopping checked off of their lists. Enter into the ugly sweater contest by posting a picture of you and your friends on social media and be entered to win a $50 Pleasanton Downtown Association gift card (good at over 100 locations downtown!). 

Chanukah Wonderland & Menorah Lighting

MONDAY, DECEMBER 23rd| 5:30PM - 7PM | stoneridge mall, pleasanton

This year, bring your family to the Chabad of the Tri-Valley’s Chunukah Wonderland at the Stoneridge Mall. There will be face painting and arts and crafts stations for children, as well as holiday games, festive dress-up, and plenty of photo opportunities for the whole family. Sing along to holiday songs with live musical performances and entertainment. Join dignitaries and the community for the lighting of the grand 9-ft Menorah at 6:30pm. 

Livermore Shakespeare Festival: A Christmas Memory

WEDNESDAYs, december 4, 8, 11| SHOWTIMES VARY | swirl on the square, livermore

Celebrate the season with friends, family or co-workers and Livermore Shakespeare Festival artists as they present a staged reading of classic holiday stories. Guests will enjoy delicious wine and tapas from Swirl on the Square as the artists perform. The indoor venue only seats 40 people so it will be an intimate holiday celebration!

The Nutcracker

december 14th - 15th, 21st - 22nd | 2PM & 7pm | Bankhead theater, livermore

Valley Dance Theatre proudly presents Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker! Valley Dance Theatre brings full-length and repertory classical ballet and contemporary dance productions to the San Francisco East Bay. Every December, the Company presents several full-length performances of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker. Last year, the production attracted an audience of more than five thousand. A second major production is staged each season in late Spring.  As the resident ballet company, all performances are held at the Bankhead Theater and are accompanied by the Valley Dance Theatre Pit Orchestra. Costumes are created by professional, award-winning designers.

The Doo Wop Project Christmas Show

The Doo Wop Project features stars of Broadway’s smash hits Jersey Boys and Motown: The Musical. Their authenticity of sound and vocal excellence recreate and reimagine favorite melodies of the era, as well as doo wop-inspired renditions of contemporary songs.  With their irresistible sound and onstage charisma, they bring the energy and magic of doo wop to a whole new generation of fans and a special touch to the holiday season.

Irish Christmas in America

Irish Christmas in America brings together world-class musicians, singers and dancers in an intimate and engaging performance rich in history, humor, and boundless energy. Pensive ballads, lively instrumentals and thrilling Irish dance, plus evocative photographic images, create an enchanting start to the holiday season.This family-friendly performance offers a view into some of the rich historical traditions of the Emerald Isle. The show was originally conceived to share traditional, if sometimes unknown, Irish customs with audiences in a heartfelt demonstration of how music kept early Irish immigrants close to home as they made their way in the new world.
