INTO CHINA
BLACKHAWK MUSEUm'S NEWEST EXHIBIT

After several years in the making, the long-awaited debut of Into China is finally here. Curated with antique artwork, 3D miniature models, and life-size replicas, this elegant exhibit takes its visitors on an experiential trip to ancient China.

The Into China gallery allows visitors to experience some of the finest handcrafted masterpieces that mirror the country’s enormous scale and capture the essence of all that culturally embodies China, past and present. This permanent exhibition is open year round and included with general admission to the Museum.

LUMINIGHT LANTERN FESTIVAL
ALAMEDA COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS

Each year, a talented artisans come to the Alameda County Fairgrounds to build a multi-acre lantern display that is  built on-site using a variety of materials including silk and chinaware. 

Cultural Chinese lantern festivals began during the Han Dynasty of the Chinese Empire, when people believed that fire could ward off evil and bring blessings. The art of the lantern festival has evolved over centuries and is now a combination of traditional and modern materials with the ancient craft.

LUNAR NEW YEAR CELEBRATIONS
THROUGHOUT THE TRI-VALLEY

In celebrating it’s diverse communities and rich culture, organizations throughout the Tri-Valley honor the Lunar New Year with live performances, cultural demonstrations, and complimentary experiences.

The Bankhead Theater, Blackhawk Museum, Stoneridge Shopping Center, San Francisco Premium Outlets, and the Firehouse Arts Center are all venues that often host Lunar New Year Celebrations
