Tri-Valley Anthem

Emmy-award winning Nashville duo Austin & Colin wrote an anthem for the Tri-Valley, sung from the top of Mount Diablo to the back of Meadowlark Dairy's drive-thru line. Dig into the full lyric breakdown, start planning your own Weekend Tour, and more below.

Behind the Lyrics

Every lyric references a real place or a true story.
Jump to Livermore, Pleasanton, Dublin, or Danville, or just start scrolling.

"Tri-Valley, Cali,
Across the Bay"

The Tri-Valley sits about 35 miles east of San Francisco, close enough for a day trip, far enough to feel like a getaway.

"No San Fran fog,
Sun hot for days,"

We're located just beyond the fog line. Pack your sunscreen!

"We got Mount Diablo that'll leave you breathless,"

Mount Diablo is the backdrop of the entire Tri-Valley, and yes, the view back down will leave you breathless. On a clear day the summit sees one of the biggest views in California, stretching from the Sierra Nevada to the Pacific.

"Kids on e-bikes,
They're driving reckless

E-bikes are the unofficial vehicle of the Tri-Valley teenager. For those wanting to enjoy an electric bike at a responsible speed, you can rent a Pedego in Livermore Valley Wine Country.

Livermore

"Livermore,
Old family wines,"

Families like the Wentes and Concannons have been making wine here since 1883, making these some of the oldest family-run wineries in California, now into their fifth generation.

"Napa got the fame,
but we grew those vines"

An estimated 80% of California Cabernet Sauvignon traces back to Concannon Vineyard vines, and more than 75% of California Chardonnay descends from the Wente Vineyards Clone. No offense to our sister Wine Country: Napa may get the fame, but the roots, quite literally, are in Livermore Valley.

"It's Lake Del Valle
for some outdoor fun,"

Hike, bike, paddle, boat, swim, fish, or just kick back on the beach. Lake Del Valle is one of our favorite places to spend a sunny day in the Tri-Valley.

"580 Traffic,
Livermorium,"

Element 116 on the periodic table is named after Livermore, an honor earned by scientists at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory who helped create it. Something to think about while you sit in that traffic.

"We in the lab making energy,"

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory achieved the world's first fusion ignition right here. The future of clean energy has a Tri-Valley zip code.

"Centennial Bulb
and Boombox Lady,"

The Centennial Bulb has been burning at a Livermore fire station since 1901, the longest-glowing light bulb on the planet.

As for Christina, affectionately known as the Boombox Lady, you'll just have to find her somewhere in downtown Livermore.

Pleasanton

"In Pleasanton,
we got Hallmark vibes,"

Downtown Pleasanton's Main Street, arch sign and all, looks like the set of a holiday movie year-round. No production crew required

"Drive a Tesla in the soft serve lines,"

The soft serve line at Meadowlark Dairy is a Pleasanton rite of passage, whether you drive thru or walk up is your call.

It was just named the 5th "most saved" ice cream shop in the entire country according to Yelp, not bad for a spot that started as California's first certified dairy back in 1919.

"Cuddle a cow,
County Fair and parks,"

Yes, cow cuddling is a real thing you can do, and yes, it is exactly as therapeutic as it sounds. The cuddling happens at Sri Surabhi Go Ksetra, a nonprofit sanctuary in the Pleasanton hills where rescued Gir cows live out their days being adored.

Add the Alameda County Fair, a stacked lineup of parks, and a Main Street that looks like a movie set, and you start to see where the Hallmark vibes line came from.

"Blankets down way before the concert starts,"

Concerts in the park are a big deal around here. Locals claim their spots hours ahead of the event. Consider yourself warned.

"Haunted tunnels, John Madden's Rose,"

The Rose Hotel was built by football legend John Madden, and rumor has it a few guests never checked out (just kidding).

"Old Wild West lookin' al fresco,"

If you look closely, you'll find the remnants of Pleasanton's Old West past up and down Main Street. Today the saloons are patios, and dinner outside is the local religion.

Dublin

"Now head to Dublin, it's growin' fast"

Dublin has ranked among the fastest growing cities in California for years. Blink and there's a new favorite restaurant.

"Ride BART, no car, 'cuz the food is gas,"

BART connects it to the entire Bay Area, so you can arrive from San Francisco or Oakland without touching a steering wheel. And the food scene is the most diverse in the Tri-Valley, with Korean, Indian, Vietnamese, Filipino, Mexican, and a dozen more cuisines packed into one city.

"IMAX, the Wave, St. Paddy's Day,"

This isn't just any IMAX. Hacienda Crossings is one of fewer than 20 theaters in the US showing films in true IMAX 70mm, which is why Dublin lands on the same release rosters as Hollywood and New York.

The Wave is Dublin's own waterpark, six-story slide included, and every March the city throws one of the biggest St. Patrick's Day celebrations in California.

"No Downtown, but our tech real great,"

Fair, there's no downtown. What Dublin has instead is pockets of fun spread across the whole city, from The Wave to Hacienda Crossings to a food scene that pops up everywhere at once, with major tech campuses filling in the map. You don't stroll Dublin. You hop it.

Danville

"City of Danville,
excuse me - town,"

Danville will politely correct you: it's a town, thank you very much. A town with the best brunch scene around, two museums (the world-class Blackhawk and the Museum of the San Ramon Valley, housed in a restored 1891 depot), and oak trees old enough to remember when all of this was ranchland.

"Real Housewives
best brunch around,"

Danville does brunch like it's a main event, because here, it is one. Come for the patios, stay for the people-watching

A walkway through a robust wildlife diorama featuring taxidermy animals and dramatic lighting inside the Blackhawk Museum in Danville.

"It's Blackhawk down to Iron Horse run"

The Blackhawk Museum is really five museums in one, with galleries spanning classic cars, the American West, world cultures, and natural history.

On the other side of town: the Iron Horse Trail runs right through the heart of town, a flat, shaded, paved path along an old railroad line.

"Oak trees old like trust funds,"

Danville's Old Oak Tree was already a century old when the Gold Rush hit. Now 350 years young, it's the official symbol of the town, and the annual Lighting of the Old Oak Tree every holiday season is the most Danville event of the year.

Outro

"See the Tri-Valley,
hiking, laid-back wineries"

Fifty family-owned wineries where tasting room means jeans and a patio, connected by hundreds of miles of trails through the hills. Do both in the same afternoon.

"In the Tri-Valley,
it's suburban families,"

Spoiler alert: our locals love it here, which is exactly why it's a great place to visit. The restaurants, parks, and festivals here were built for the people who show up every week, not just the ones passing through.

"We the Tri-Valley,
science, tech and history,""

Two national laboratories, an element on the periodic table, and main streets that started as Old West towns. Not many places cover fusion ignition and stagecoach stops in the same afternoon.

"At the Tri-Valley,
yeah we park and it's for free."

Free parking in the Bay Area is not a myth. It just all lives out here. Consider it our welcome gift to you and your wallet.
